The Division offers an Under Graduate and a Post Graduate Program namely B.Sc. Biological Techniques and Specimen Preparation (BT & SP) and M.Sc. Biotechnology.

BSc. BT&SP - Biological Techniques & Specimen Preparation (BT&SP), a vocational course formulated by the UGC to prepare University graduates for self-employment, considering the limited absorptive capacity of the public sector, started in U.C. College as a UGC sponsored course in 1995. From the year 2001-2002, BT&SP is being offered as a self-financing course by the College Management.

MSc. BIOTECHNOLOGY - M.Sc Biotechnology Program of the Union Christian College was started in 2002. Affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University, it is a self financing Course conducted as per the directives of the government and University.

The foremost emphasis of the division is to empower and equip our students with the recent academic developments in the field of modern biology.

BT&SP program emphasizes the development of capabilities which will enable the students to set up their own enterprises, as well as pursue advanced studies in several frontier areas of Biology, such as DNA Technology, Microbiology, and Tissue culture, Forensic medicine and Management studies.

MSc Biotechnology offers an excellent learning program with a distinguished faculty, high quality laboratories and state-of-the-art equipment-DNA Sequencer, PCR thermocycler, Transilluminator, PC-controlled UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Refrigerated Centrifuge, Horizontal and Vertical Electrophoretic Units, Southern, Northern and Western blot facilities, Gel documentation system, Flame photometer, Multiparameter-water analyzer-in addition to a superb section for Histology and Histochemical studies.

We are inspired by the exemplary standards set by eminent pedagogues like Prof.P.Jacob Kurien (retired as HOD, Zoology and Founder Coordinator of Biotechnology Division), Dr.T.Thomas Philip, (former HOD of Zoology, Coordinator of Biotechnology Division and Principal of U.C.College) with PhD in Immunoparasitology,PDF in Molecular Parasitology, Univeristy of Guelph,Canada, PDF in Stress Physiology,University of British Columbia, Canada stands tall as a guiding force in the development and evolution of the division as one of the best among the affiliated colleges of the university and the state of Kerala.

We are also blessed with the valuable supports and services of Dr.K.K.Bhaskaran, (retired Prof. Christ College Irinjalakkuda), Prof.V.C.Mathew (retired Prof, Dept. of Chemistry, U.C. College Aluva ), Prof.C.M.Mathew (retired Prof. Dept. of Chemistry, U.C. College Aluva)
