Physical Education

The College offers sports and games facilities to every student who desires to develop his or her potential abilities and qualities of sportsman spirit, team spirit and physique.  The Department of Physical Education, in keeping with the mission of the College, provides the best preparation for life by empowering students outside the classroom to reach their physical, social, and intellectual potential through a wide range of sports and activities.  With a focus on competitive, recreational, and wellness activities, we honour effort and perseverance, reward self-discipline, encourage interpersonal exploration, and promote mutual understanding in an effort to reach the highest levels of achievement and excellence. Some of the notable programmes are:

Intramurals

The intramural sports program is designed to provide spirited participation in various sports for enjoyment and physical activity. Emphasis is placed on social interaction and fun.

Fitness Programmes

The Department offers our students and staff the opportunity to learn the skills of Yoga and Karate and promote wellness through these activities

Tournaments

Every year the college is organizing the following inter collegiate tournaments

U. C. College Basketball tournament

Dr. A. K. Baby memorial hockey tournament

The College has all the essential facilities to conduct the major items of games and athletics. Those who excel in sports and games could get grace marks awarded by the University. The University awards a number of Scholarships as well on the basis of performance of students in sports and games.

  • MG UNIVERSITY OVERALL MEDAL TALLY – FIFTH POSITION
  • 31 Students represented university in the various all India inter varsity tournaments..
  • Fourteen women hockey players representing MGuniversity placed winners in the South West Zone All India Inter varsity Hockey tournament held at Banasthali, Rajasthan.

  • 44 Students represented university in the various all India inter varsity tournaments and 7students represented kerala state in the various national meet.
  • Rajani Janardhanan and Aswathy.I selected to represent south Indian team to participate in the forthcoming Malaysian tour.
  • In the state senior hockey women championship Ernakulam team comprising of our students emerged champions defeating the five times champion team SAI Kollam.
