About the Department

B.Sc. Computer Science course commenced in the Union Christian College,Aluva under the department of Physics in the year 2001.The Department of Computer Science offers high quality under-graduate teaching in the major areas of Computer Science. Apart from the Departmental Computer Lab , we also have a well equipped Internet Centre.The discipline of computer science pertains to the study and design of computer systems,hardware and software, computing techniques and underlying theory. Our program provides a student with a broad technical background in computer science. It is a flexible program providing breadth and permitting a student to develop strengths in selected areas within computer science, as well as in related areas such as electrical engineering, mathematics or business depending on a student’s interests. The first batch came out in the year 2004.

Mission Statement

The Computer Science (CS) major is designed to prepare students for careers involving the design of computer systems and their application to science, industry and management. Students taking this major receive solid grounding in fundamentals of computer languages, operating systems, and the formal mathematical tools required to use the computer in solving complex tasks. Emphasis in this major is on software,The computer science program prepares students for work in industry or postgraduate study.
