The Department of Psychology began its footsteps in 1965 and over the last 45 years has become an integral part of this prestegious institution bringing glory to the academic and related fields.

Following the path laid by Dr. Alexander, eminent psychologist and the 1st Head of the Department, the young and the vibrant team of faculty focuses not only in fostering academic excellence but also in grooming our budding psychologists to become psychologically healthy adults, creating a congenial and warm environment for developing their potentials.

The Department which is the 1st to be started in Kerala is the only place where PG course is offered under the MG University. It has a Counselling Centre as an extension wing offering services to students from this college and to the community.

The Department has an active Association and Alumni Group.

The department holds an association meet on the last working hour of Day 3. The Alumni Day is celebrated on the 2nd Saturday of November every year

Psychology Department students are functioning at various multinational corporations in executive or managerial level as eminent psychologists, counsellors, neuroscientists, neuropsychologists, teaching faculty, special educators, psychotherapists, and entrepreuner. The faculty and students provide orientation and enpowerment class to local administration.
