SPORTS & GAMES 2010-11

Our sports stars continue their excellence in sports and games this year too. One of the outstanding achievements of this year was Vineetha George and Revathy Retheesh (I BSc Zoology) representing Kerala State in the Senior National Softball Championship held at Chandigargh placed first position. Athira Anil (II BA Econo) representing MG University in the South West Zone All India Inter Varsity Football championship held at Gwalior.

 HOCKEY

 Winners of MG University men and women hockey championship. Shalma.C.K, Pravitha.K,Jimshy.T.S,Anu.V.S,Remyababu,Sisna.T,Krishnasree,Alina.V.Kumar,Saikrishna.T,Arathi.J.Prakash and Jijith.J, Bijo.P.R, Najeeb.N,M  ,Jithes..P, Shiju.N.Shaju, Pranav.P, Sajith Johnson, Alen.V.Sebastian, Hariprasad and Subin Thomas represented MG University in the South West zone All India Inter Varsity championship.

 SOFTBALL

 Winners of MG University men and women Softball tournament held at Marthoma College Thiruvalla.. Sanu Mohan, Siyad.P.S, Jayalal.K.J, Salaj.A.S and Vineetha George, Revathy George, Chithraraj and Ayila Sivan  selected to represent MGU in the All India Inter university Softball tournamentheld at Acharaya.Nagarjuna University, Guntur.

Vineetha George and Revathy George represented Kerala State in the Senior National held at Punjab won the championship.Vineetha George was selected as the best player of the tournament.

CRICKET

Winner of MGU inter collegiate Cricket tournament. Vineetha George, Chinju.A.P, Ayilya Sivan and Nimshiya.K.H selected to the MGU Cricket team.

JUDO

 Winner of MGU inter collegiate Judo men championship and third place in Women section. Jackson Antony, Santhosh.M.T, Arjun.M, Sanu Varghese and Didymol Martin selected to the MG University team.

Sanhosh.M.T won fourth place in the Junior Nationals Judo Championship held at Bangalore.

BASEBALL

 Runner up of MGU Baseball women championship. Vineetha George, Revathy George, Jimshy.T.S, Ayila Sivan and in men section Vishnu.T.C, Sanish.K.T selected to represent MGU in the All India Inter university Baseball tournament

Shiju.N.Shaju participated in the Senior National Baseball championship.

  NETBALL

Runner up of MGU Baseball men championship. Paul John, Mary.P.Jose, Ashish Cherian, KrishnaPrasad and Yedhu Krishnan were selected to the MG University team.

 TENNIS

 Runner up of MG University Tennis championship. Lakshmi Vijayan selected to represent MGU in the All India inter university Tennis tournament .

 SHUTTLE BADMINTON

Third placein  MG U niversity women shuttle badminton championship .

 FOOTBALL

 Third place in the MGU women intercollegiate football tournament. Athira Anil (II BA Econo) representing MG University won  second place in the South West Zone All India Inter Varsity and fourth place in the All India Inter varsity Football championship held at Gwalior.

TABLE TENNIS

 Third place in the MGU women intercollegiate Table Tennis championship.

 TOURNAMENT ORGANISED

 UC organized 19^th Dr.A.K.Baby Memorial South Zone Hockey tournament from 24^th to 26^th January 2011.Total 8 teams in men section and three teams in women section were participated.The tournament was inaugurated by Prof.Annie.M.Thomas  In the men section Union Christian College (winners), Tamil Nadu and Jamal Mohammed College Trichy (runner up) and in women section SN College, Kollam emerged (winners) and UC college emerged runners up position..

40^th Union Christian College Basketball Tournament organized from 2^nd to 4^th February, 2011.The tournament was inaugurated Mr.Neeraj George Baby,Bronze Medalist – Israel open Shuttle Badminton championshipfor challenged and chief guest for the closing ceremony was Mr.Rajasundaram,DYSP- Narcotic Cell, Aluva. Total 7 teams in men section and 2teams in women section were participated. In the men section Mar Ivanious, Trivandrum (winners) and SB College Changannassery (Runners up) and in women section Pala Alphonsa College, emerged (winners) and St.Xaviers college, Aluva runners up position.

89^th UC College Annual Athletic meet were organized from 31st January &1st Feburary 2011. The meet was inaugurated by our Principal Dr.T.Thomas Philip and chief guest for the closing ceremony was Prof.Leelamma.K.E – Department of Physics. Individual champion in the men section was Tinu Sebastian (3^rd BA Economics) and in women section Princiraj (1^st BA Mala).

UCC also organized MGU Cricket, Hockey (Men) and Basketball (Men) tournaments.

SPORTS & GAMES 2009-10

Our sports stars continue their excellence in sports and games this year too. One of the outstanding achievements of this year was our Netball Men team won the First Inter Collegiate M.G University Championship and four members were selected to the Kerala State team.

Baseball

Third place in the MG University Baseball (Men) Championship. Rajesh C, Sanoop S, and Salaj A.S were selected to represent MG University in the All India Inter University Baseball Tournament.

Tennis

Our College team secured Third position in women section in the MG University Tennis championship. Lakshmi Vijayan was selected to represent MG University in the All India Inter University Tennis Tournament.

Table Tennis

Winners in the MG University Inter Collegiate table Tennis Tournament. Jinumary K.P representing MG University team in the South Zone All India Intervarsity Tournament held at Warangal (AP).

Football

Runner Up in the MG University women Intercollegiate Football Tournament. Athira Anil was selected to the MG University team in the South West Zone All India Intervarsity Tournament held at Periyar University, Tamil Nadu. .

Cricket

Fourth place in the MG University Inter Collegiate Cricket Tournament. Midhila Dominic and Nimishya K.H were selected to the MG University Cricket team. .

Kabaddi (Men)

Mr. Rahul Raj was selected to the MG University team.

Judo

Our College Judo (Men) team secured the Runner Up position in the MG University Championship. Santhosh M.T and Jackson Antony were selected to represent the MG University team.
Our College Judo (Women) team secured the Third place in the MG University Championship. Kumari Divya Issac was secured Gold Medal in 70Kg category and represented the Kerala State team.

Netball

Our College team secured the First position in the MG University men Championship. Paul John, Ashish Cherian, Krishna Prasad, Maryn P.Jose and Reghu Zachariah were selected in the men section and Pravitha K was selected in the Women section to the MG University team.

Shuttle Badminton

Third place in the MG University women shuttle Badminton Championship organized by St.Peter’s College, Kolencherry.

Hockey

Winners of MG University women Hockey Championship. Sajila B, Prajitha P.V, Reshmi R, Susan Mathew, Neethu R, Liji P.B, Sugisha N, Shalma C.K, Sreelekha K.P, Jimshy T.S, Anu V.S represented MG University in the All India Inter University Hockey Tournament at Jiwaji University, Gwalior.Vinajesh Kumar, Sudheesh Kailas, Chitrasenan R, Prabhath T.P, Shiju N Shaju, Ramez Rahim, Jijith P, Bijo P.R, Jithesh P were selected to represent MG University in the ALL India University Hockey Tournament held at Bangalore.

16 students of our College represented Ernakulam District Hockey Team and secured the First place in the women’s hockey Championship of the Kerala State. .

Football (Men)

Won the Runner Up Trophy of Mar Kuriakose Kunnacherry Golden Jubilee Memorial All Kerala Inter Collegiate Football tournament held at St.Stephen’s College Uzhavoor and Runner Up Trophy in Mar Philoxeans All Kerala Inter-Collegiate Football tournament held at Catholicate College, Pathanamthitta.
