National Symposium

Nuclear medicine is a specialized area of medicine which uses small amounts of radio pharmaceuticals to diagnose and treat various diseases. Knowledge of chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology and medicine is required for understanding various principles of nuclear medicine. This branch helps to diagnose and treat abnormalities and progression of a disease such as cancer. Nuclear imaging helps visualization of an organ and helps in studying organ functions. Radio-pharmaceuticals like Technetium, Thallium, Gallium, Iodine etc. are being used. The radiation emitted is detected by a gamma camera which can detect tumors, organ enlargements or cysts. Single photon emission computed tomography or SPECT produces axial slices similar to CT Scan. In PET Scan, 3-D images can be generated and detection will be easy. The present One-Day National Symposium intends to teach students and researchers the various uses of radioisotopes, various diagnostic tests, production of radioisotopes etc.

Last Date to Register: 16th February 2024.
