Seven colleges in Ernakulam district figure among the top 10 most preferred institutions offering undergraduate programmes under the Mahatma Gandhi University in the 2017-18 academic year.

U.C. College, Aluva, topped the list going by the option count (60,867) for various programmes offered by the college as per the official admission data available after the fourth round of allotment under the Centralised Allotment Process (CAP). Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara, was at second position followed by Baselius College, Kottayam  at third place and NSS Hindu College, Changanacherry and Sree Sankara College, Kalady at fourth and fifth positions respectively.

The autonomous colleges under the varsity will not come under the list, as the admission to these institutions is being conducted by the managements itself.
