The webinar started with the welcome speech of student coordinator Sumi Sivan. More than 200 people including faculty’s and research scholars from different parts of the state participated in the webinar. Throughout the talk which lasted for more than an hour, Dr.Malavika Binny presented on how gender works through roles, norms and expectations and why it is a disabling identity for many under patriarchy. Within the limitations, she spoke on themes of body politics, internalised patriarchy and sexism and different aspects of feminism in a very simple and understandable way. The webinar ended with a dynamic and meaningful discussion on the topic. Ms. Resmi J, Student coordinator, extended sincere gratitude to the speaker and to all other participants. At the end of the session feedback links were circulated which recorded an excellent positive response from majority and e-certificates were provided through email.
It was a well-coordinated and well communicated webinar and the first step for women cell in educating the public even through in background of the peculiar pandemic scenario of 2020.
