Faculty Quarters
The campus houses several residential quarters for faculty and support staff, fostering a vibrant academic and social atmosphere:

👩🎓 WOMEN’S HOSTELS
1. East Hostel

Established: 1939
Capacity: 80 students
Main Warden: Dr. Rima Joseph (Dept. of Zoology)
Resident Warden: Ms. Regi George
As the first women’s hostel on campus, East Hostel holds a historic place in the college’s timeline. Built to accommodate the first batch of female students admitted to UCC, this hostel combines a charming colonial-era design with upgraded interiors. The red-tiled roofs, high ceilings, and expansive verandahs offer a warm, homely atmosphere—ideal for academic focus and personal reflection. Despite its vintage architecture, the hostel is equipped with modern bathrooms, study areas, and security systems.
Students here cherish a unique sense of sisterhood and legacy, often engaging in hostel-level arts and cultural activities that reinforce their connection to UCC’s traditions.
2. West Hostel
- Established: 1964
- Capacity: 55 students
- Main Warden: Mr. Eldo Varghese (Dept. of Mathematics)
- Resident Warden: Ms. Ancy Thomas
Originally constructed in the 60s to meet rising demand, West Hostel is known for its serene atmosphere, leafy surroundings, and a renewed sense of life following a recent renovation. It offers spacious dormitories, a well-maintained courtyard, recreational space, and access to clean, filtered drinking water. Students here describe it as a perfect blend of peace and productivity, with a structured routine that supports their academic ambitions while also offering freedom and comfort.
3. T.B. Thomas (TBT) Hostel

Established: 2006
Capacity: 41 students
Main Warden: Ms. Minu Joyce (Dept. of Chemistry)
Resident Warden: Ms. Mariyamma Oommen
Built in memory of Prof. T.B. Thomas, a visionary former Principal of the college, TBT Hostel is a modern facility designed for a smaller group of women scholars. Its boutique size encourages a tight-knit community, where academic collaboration and personal friendships flourish. Each floor includes individual study desks, private closets, and ventilation-focused room design. The hostel emphasizes discipline and harmony, with regular hostel meetings and group study programs initiated by residents.
4. C.T. Benjamin (CTB) Hostel

Established: 2002 (renovated in 2006)
Capacity: 90 students
Main Warden: Mr. Eldo Varghese
Resident Warden: Ms. Vincy Joseph
Mess Matron: Ms. Aleyamma T Jacob
Initially known as the East-Annex, CTB Hostel was renamed in honor of Prof. C.T. Benjamin, a distinguished educationist and past Principal. Today, CTB Hostel is one of the largest women’s hostels on campus, equipped with multi-storied living quarters, a spacious rooftop common mess, and secure entry systems. The third-floor mess caters to all dietary needs and is often a social hub. The hostel hosts several internal clubs and is known for its intellectual culture, debate circles, and mentorship from senior students.
5. Skinner Hostel (Women)
- Formerly a Men’s Hostel
- Capacity: 80 students (including sports students)
- Main Warden: Dr. Bindhu M (Dept. of Physical Education)
- Resident Warden: Ms. Grace Thomas
Named after one of the earliest benefactors of UCC, Skinner Hostel now houses women students with a focus on sports education. Students pursuing football, athletics, or hockey under Kerala State Sports Council’s guidance are housed here. Along with academics, residents undergo daily physical training and dietary routines, supported by coaches and hostel management. The hostel encourages a spirit of discipline and leadership, preparing students for competitive and professional environments.
6. Skinner Hostel Annexe
- Established: 2019
- Capacity: 40 students + 5 faculty members
- Main Warden: Dr. Bindhu M
- Resident Warden: Ms. Molly Sunny
Funded jointly by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the college, this new facility reflects the college’s vision of modern, inclusive accommodation. It features faculty quarters within the same building, encouraging student-faculty interaction beyond classroom hours. The annexe includes Wi-Fi-enabled reading rooms, smart laundry units, solar power back-up, and green architecture design for thermal efficiency.
👨🎓 MEN’S HOSTELS
1. Chacko Hostel

Established: 1920s
Capacity: 50 students
Main Warden: Dr. Sunil Abraham Thomas (Dept. of Economics)
Non-Resident Warden: Dr. Manu M Punnen (Dept. of Physics)
Resident Warden: Dn. Abin George
Main Cook: Mr. Surendran
One of the oldest buildings on campus, Chacko Hostel is named after Mr. K.C. Chacko, a founding father of the college. For over 95 years, this hostel has shaped generations of young men through a tradition of faith, fellowship, and intellectual development. Known for its simplicity and warm brotherhood, Chacko Hostel runs under the supervision of the Hostel Board, which includes the Manager, Principal, and Bursar.
The rooms are spacious, with large windows, high-speed internet access, and ample personal storage. The hostel kitchen, managed by Mr. Surendran, is famous for its homestyle Kerala meals, particularly the weekly Sunday special.
2. Sports Hostel (Men’s)
- Capacity: 20 students
- Main Warden: Dr. Anil Thomas Koshy
This specialized hostel caters to football and hockey players enrolled under the Kerala State Sports Council hostel scheme. With only 20 residents, it ensures personalized support, fitness-focused routines, and proximity to the college’s sports grounds and gymnasium. The hostel includes training schedules, physiotherapy access, dietary plans, and mentoring programs to help student-athletes balance their academic and sports careers.
🏡 Faculty & Staff Quarters
UCC offers extensive residential quarters for faculty, wardens, and staff on campus, enabling constant interaction between students and educators and creating a close-knit academic community.
The quarters include:
- Principal’s Quarters
- Warden’s Quarters adjacent to each hostel
- Support staff quarters for hostel boys and security
- Named residences like:
- Holland – A heritage-style faculty residence
- Kavadiar – A beautifully landscaped home within the campus grounds
This system reflects the college’s belief in value-based education, mentorship, and accessibility, where students can approach faculty beyond lecture hours and form lasting bonds with mentors and peers.
