Report on the Interdisciplinary Space Science Quiz Competition
Organised by the Science Club and Quiz Club, Union Christian College (Autonomous), Aluva
1. Introduction
In commemoration of the remarkable success of Chandrayaan-3, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), in association with Union Christian College (Autonomous), Aluva, conducted a series of celebratory academic programmes. As part of these initiatives, the Science Club and the Quiz Club of the College jointly organised a quiz competition on 7 August 2025 (Thursday) at 2:30 PM in the History Department Reading Room. The event aimed to foster scientific curiosity, promote interdisciplinary dialogue, and encourage critical engagement with contemporary and futuristic themes in space science.
2. Themes of the Competition
The quiz was designed to address a range of significant and emerging areas in space research and exploration. The thematic scope comprised:
1. Space Science Vision for 2047
2. Artificial Intelligence in Space Science
3. Space Debris Management
4. Space Tourism
5. Other Innovative Space-Related Ideas
3. Structure and Participation
The competition was open to student teams comprising two members each, representing various academic departments of the College. The quiz format included multiple rounds testing factual knowledge, analytical ability, application skills, and innovative thinking related to the prescribed themes.
4. Results
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation and commendable performances across disciplines. The winners were as follows:
First Place 🥇 – Mr. Athul & Ms. Sreya (Department of Chemistry)
Second Place 🥈 – Ms. Gopika & Ms. Jovitta (Department of Physics)
Third Place 🥉 – Mr. Asad & Mr. Kevin (Department of Computer Science)
5. Acknowledgements
The smooth conduct of the event was made possible through the concerted efforts of the organisers and volunteers. The quiz was moderated by Mr. Anugrah V. K. and Ms. Nithiya Poulose, whose preparation and engagement were instrumental to the success of the competition. Scorekeeping was efficiently managed by Ms. Gina Viju and Mr. Asif. The Clubs extend sincere appreciation to all participating teams for their dedication and sportsmanship.
A special note of gratitude is also due to the Science Club and Quiz Club members for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and unwavering support in the planning and execution of the event. The collaboration between the two clubs exemplified the College’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary learning and celebrating scientific achievements.
6. Conclusion
The Space Science Quiz Competition served not only as a platform for intellectual engagement but also as a celebration of India’s growing contributions to space exploration. By combining the excitement of competitive quizzing with the thematic depth of cutting-edge research areas, the event succeeded in inspiring participants and the audience alike to envision new horizons in space science for the decades to come.
