International Day of Yoga

The 9th International day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm and zest by the cadets of Union Christian College, Aluva.  7(K) Girls Bn NCC along with 22(K) Bn & Department of Physical Education organized a one-hour yoga session on 21st June in the College auditorium. NSS volunteers and members of Yuva tourism club of U.C. college and NCC cadets of Al-Ameen College, Edathala participated in the programme. The session was intended to foster the feelings of harmony, peace and happiness among the youth. It also conveyed the importance of making yoga an integral part of our daily life by extending the practise of yoga. The program started at 8:15 am with prayer. Principal Prof M. I. Punnoose addressed the gathering. Dr. Jeevan P S, Senior Medical Officer APHC Thuravoor and Senior faculty of Art of Living led the session. Fifty three NCC cadets under the guidance of Lt. Nino Baby engaged in various yoga asanas. The session was very refreshing, reviving and relaxing. The sub unit also conducted Surya Namaskar competition in which fourteen teams representing various departments participated.
