The Department of Physical Education, UC College, Aluva, marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of a newly constructed Long Jump Pit on 22nd November 2025. This long-awaited facility was made possible through the generous support of the Rotary Club, making a valuable addition to the college’s sports infrastructure.
The inauguration ceremony was conducted in the presence of distinguished guests. The Long Jump Pit was formally inaugurated by Rtn. Dr. G. N. Ramesh, District Governor, Rotary Club. The event was graced by Dr. Anil Thomas Koshy, Autonomous Director and Governing Board Member of the college; Rtn. Romilal Madhavan, Chairman, ROSES; Dr. Bindu M., Head of the Department of Physical Education; Dr. Anumol Jose, NSS Coordinator, as well as dignitaries from the Rotary Club of Cochin West and Rotary Club of Cochin Tricity.
The inauguration was held in connection with the Rotary Olympics for Special Education Students, conducted in association with the Department of Physical Education and National Service Scheme,&C College. The event highlighted the Rotary Club’s commitment to supporting inclusive sports initiatives and developing sports facilities that benefit the wider community.
With the establishment of the Long Jump Pit, the Department of Physical Education gains a dedicated facility that will greatly support athletic training, talent development, and coaching programs. This addition will benefit not only UC College students but also promising athletes from the surrounding community.
The college authorities and the Department of Physical Education expressed deep appreciation to the Rotary Club for their contribution and support toward enhancing sports infrastructure on campus. This initiative stands as a significant step toward strengthening the college’s commitment to promoting sports excellence and inclusive athletic opportunities.
