Inauguration of Two days National workshop at U C College, Aluva

A two days national workshop on material characterization (WMCT 2023) is started at Union Christian College, Aluva on 22nd March 2023. The workshop organized by department of Physics was inaugurated by a well-known scientist, Prof. Reji Philip, from Raman Research Institute, Bangalore is aimed at fostering research cultures among faculties, research students and PG students from nearby colleges. During his inaugural address, Dr. Reji emphasized the importance of material science research and stressed the need to make instruments in India. He also mentioned that fundamental research should target this aspect as well. The scientist appreciated the department for organizing such a wonderful event.

The scientist also shared some interesting facts about the history of the department. He highlighted that the Cochin University, where he had studied, was formerly the Department of Physics at Union Christian College, Aluva. This is a proud moment for the department, and it shows how far the department has come in terms of academic excellence and research.

During the presidential address, the principal emphasized the importance of reading and the place of arts in scientific research. This is an essential aspect of research that should not be overlooked. Research is not only about numbers and equations; it is also about creativity and innovation.
