Vara Club

About the Club

Vara (വര) Club is one of the many clubs in college that promotes the innate drawing skills of every student enrolling on this campus. The club successfully conducted various activities, competitions, and collaborations with other intra-college clubs, NGOs, and parties. The following is the list of events that were organized by the same.

ചുവരുകൾക്ക് വർണ്ണമേകി വരയിലെ ചിത്രകാരന്മാർ🎨

വെൽഫെയർ അസോസിയേഷൻ ട്രസ്റ്റിലെ താമസക്കാരുടെ കണ്ണുകളിലേക്ക് പുതു ചിത്രങ്ങളുടെ ഒരു വിസ്മയ ലോകം തീർക്കുകയാണ് യുസി കോളേജിലെ ചിത്രകാരന്മാരുടെ ക്ലബ്ബായ വര . അതിനു മുന്നോടിയായി ട്രസ്റ്റിലെ ഫിസിയോതെറാപ്പി റൂമിലെ ചുമരുകൾക്ക് ചിത്രകാരന്മാർ നിറം പകർന്നു .അവർക്ക് നേതൃത്വം പകരാൻ അധ്യാപികയായ മിനിയും കൂടെയുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. വരയ്ക്കുശേഷംതാമസിക്കാരോട് സംസാരിച്ചും, അവരുടെ കൂടെ പാട്ട് പാടിയുമാണ് കലാകാരന്മാർ മടങ്ങിയത്.

ചിത്രം വരക്കണമെന്ന ആശയവുമായി സമീപിച്ചപ്പോൾ തന്നെ അത് ഏറ്റെടുത്ത് ചുമരുകളെ മനോഹരമാക്കിയ എല്ലാ ചിത്രകാരന്മാരോടുമുള്ള സ്നേഹം അറിയിക്കുന്നു.

• On February 17th & 18th, 2023, the Varaclub completed a wall painting on the zoology department’s walls related to environmental issues.

• On November 4th,2022, varaclub drew a wall painting on the walls of AB Block; related to the centenary vista exhibition.

• On November 3rd and 4th, 2022, the vara club completed a few wall paintings in the English department based on TSElliot’s famous poem wasteland.

• Vara Club redrew the paintings of UC College boundary walls (Chuttu mathil) on November 2nd 2022, for related centenary celebrations.

• On 15th October 2022, the club, along with its 17 student artists associated with Anjappam, Kozhenchery, gave life to their dull walls with bright colours and strokes under the guidance of Ananthu Thampi. Portraits of Sree Narayana Guru and Dr B R Ambedkar painted with cut colours.

• Vara Club UCC collaborated with Fashion Club UCC to facepaint for “Panache”, a fest organized by St.Teresa’s College, Ernakulam and emerged victorious, securing a first place on 30th September 2022.

• On 6th October 2022, The Alumni of the 1984-87 Batch of the Physics Department associated with Vara Club UCC organized a wall painting on the wall of the SC-1 classroom in the Physics block under the guidance of Ananthu Thampi.

• Conducted an online drawing competition called ‘Varaykkam uciye'(വരയ്ക്കാം യൂ.സി യെ).The theme for the competition was to draw the participant’s favourite spot/place or part of the UC College campus. We got about Seventeen entries from conducting it.

• Graffiti walls were painted across the wall of the college canteen under Vara Club UCC on 27th August 2022. Fifteen student artists took part in it under the guidance of Ananthu Thampi, an exemplary art student from RLV College, Tripunithura.

• On 15th August, as a part of the 75th Independence day celebration, ‘Aazadi ka Amrithmaholsav’, members of the Vara club together put forward their effort and created a ‘Freedom wall’.The wall of the AB block was the canvas.

• Designed artworks for the College magazine ‘Vellirekha'(വെള്ളിരേഖ) 2022-23.

• Organized a wall painting with SFI UCC at Aluva Mattuppadi Anganavadi on 28th May 2022. Twelve club members took part in it.

• Conducted an online art competition, ‘Bulldozer Politics’, on 22nd May 2022 to collect artworks for the College Magazine 2022-23.Saniya Salim and Sara Seebi emerged as the winners.

• Conducted an online art exhibition called ‘Guernica’ on 4th February 2022. This event collected over 52 artworks and posted them on the official Instagram page of Vara Club UCC. @vara_club_ucc
