Objective of the Programme :
The event aimed to educate and create awareness about the significance of mangroves as a nature-based solution for climate change. On July 27, 2023, the TB Ninan Hall at UC College Aluva hosted an impactful invited talk on “Mangrove’s Blue Carbon: Nature-Based Solution for Climate Change,” featuring Dr. Rani Varghese as the distinguished speaker. Organized collaboratively by the Kandal Club and Young Roots (B Com Department), the event highlighted the crucial role of mangroves in mitigating climate change through carbon sequestration. Dr. Varghese’s insightful presentation illuminated the significance of mangroves in coastal ecosystems and inspired attendees, comprising students, faculty, and community members, to engage actively in nature-based solutions for tackling climate change.
Outcome of the event/Evaluation by programme Coordinator:
The event successfully increased awareness and understanding about the pivotal role of mangroves as a nature-based solution for climate change. Dr. Rani Varghese’s insightful talk elucidated the concept of mangrove conservation fostering a greater appreciation for the importance of mangroves in carbon sequestration and coastal ecosystem preservation.
