17th M.V. Kurien Commemorative Lecture

Department of Economics conducted 17^th M.V. Kurien Commemorative Lecture on 15/3/ 2023. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Reshmi. P. Bhaskaran, Applied Economist and Public Policy expert. The lecture was titled ‘Moral Sentiments: Vanished Pages of Market in the Neo Liberal World’. The speaker, while acknowledging the positive features of neo liberal world cautioned against the huge erosion of moral sentiments and justice brought forth in this world. The speaker also pointed out how Adam Smith, who is often seen as an advocate of market economy spoke about the pre-requisite of moral sentiments for its effective functioning, a fact which is often forgotten today.
